Reserves Leaders Meeting, Room 223, Tuesday Morning

Tara was still a little groggy from her dream of the ball as she got her room ready for all the other Reserves leaders -- it seemed obvious to her that it was better they get together and make a plan than that they let everybody go off on their own.

Not that Tara exactly knew how to plan against a giant smelly bog and magically appearing walls that seemed to hold people captive, but hey. She could be optimistic.

Her supplies were simple: A bag of cookies filched from the kitchen, some soda, a makeshift easel for writing down ideas, and a pile of every book on the supernatural she had in case people wanted to start researching before they got to the library.

She figured Kennedy and Maladicta would bring the weapons.

[OOC: Post is for the other reserve leader types, but the door is open. This is not the fighting reserves post -- that's been postponed to tomorrow so the groups can meet together.]

Raven had her hood up when she arrived and kept it that way, but the way she kept twisting the twin rings on her hands revealed her agitation. She knew she had to remain calm and rational to help her friends, but right now, that was a difficult battle.

Kennedy shot her a concerned glance. "You keeping it together okay?"

"I am well enough," Raven said.

Liar, Trigon laughed.

"I am disappointed that I had Karla in my grasp last night," she went on, shaking her father's voice off. "But I could not take her with me when whatever magics were holding us in that dream shattered."

The slight arch of Kennedy's eyebrows hinted that she wasn't entirely sure either.

"It was nice while it lasted but I can go without ever having that kind of freaky-ass dream again," she muttered. Something about Raven's phrasing was catching her attention, though...

"Radio said something about floaty sphere things that people were breaking, didn't it?"

"And I thought I heard a sound like breaking glass when I began to come back to my senses," Raven said, nodding, unconscious clenching her hands into fists at the thought of being controlled as she had been.

No one controls the daughter of Trigon.

"We should speak to Ben, he was one of those who broke the spheres," she said. "I believe the radio said he saw Ender in one, and he is one of the missing and was at the masquerade."

Kennedy nodded. "Gotta say I like the idea of something physical we can do to break the spell." If their guess was accurate, at least, but she was going to plow on assuming it was; hey, breaking things was something she could do. "Oh, god-- you don't think it'll hurt them, do you?"

"If breaking the spheres was indeed what broke the spell last night, it did not appear to cause any pain to those present," Raven said thoughtfully. "I did not sense any discomfort from any one else nor feel any pain myself."

Kennedy sat up and leaned forward a touch, commenting ruefully, "Don't suppose you can still sense 'em now that we're not in wacky dreamland any more, can you? That's probably a dumb question..."

Raven shook her head. "I cannot," she said. "Something is impeding my gifts. Sookie could not sense them, either."

"Damn," Kennedy said, shoulders slumping. "So no chance of us communicating with anybody in there that way, then. I'm starting to think we should send in a damn messenger bird at this rate."

"There's that thing I was talking to you about," Tara suggested, then raised her voice so the rest of the group could hear. "I found a spell that's supposed to let you project your thoughts. I could try it and, uh, kind of see what happens?"

Kennedy didn't think about it for more than a second before she nodded quickly and reached out to put a hand on Tara's arm for a moment. "It can't hurt, right? I say you should go for it." She glanced around the room for the others' reactions, although there was the tiniest hint of you'd better say yes in her expression.

Raven nodded. She wasn't so sure it would work where Sookie's telepathy had failed, but it was definitely worth a chance.

Why waste your time with this, Daughter? Go in and take what is yours.

Tara drew a breath and went to find the book. "All right. Let me try on you guys first, then if it works right..."

It was a long moment before she set the book aside and went to sit cross-legged in a corner, chanting something to herself.

[Raven, Kennedy, Dolf? Maladicta? Um ... hi? Anybody hear me?]

Her psychic voice, if anyone could hear it, was extremely self-conscious.

"I hear you," Raven murmured aloud, eyes closed in concentration.

So do I. Trigon sounded almost bored. Raven quickly wrenched her mental barriers up around her core, trying to shield Tara from her father's gaze.

"Whoa," Kennedy spoke up, looking a bit thrown. She was trying not to act wigged, but that had been new and different. "Having you in my head is trippy."

She went on, apologetically, "I mean, I can tell you were in there. I might be a little fuzzy on what exactly you said."

[Like I'm being quiet?] Tara asked, pointing the question more directly at Kennedy this time. She backed away from talking to Raven, not sure what the alien presence she'd just barely felt was; maybe that was how it always with with demons.

Then, aloud: "So. Kinda. A little?" She couldn't help being happy, even if the circumstances pretty much sucked. "If I could get to Emma or Karla..."

Kennedy's eyes narrowed quizzically, and she had to concentrate to pick out the meaning, but judging from the way her face brightened she must've succeeded at least enough to guess. "Kinda. So not bad for a first attempt? Even in my head, you're cute when you're all shy." No, focus, Kennedy. "Dolf? Did you get any of that?"
