When Tara got back to her alcove after a day spent running errands on the mainland, she had no idea things had gone weird on the island. She just didn't love any of her stuff that much, really.

Instead, she settled back on her bunk with a spellbook. After speaking with Karla and Merlin and seeing people in the Magic Reserves talk about their powers, she wanted to practice and get at least a little better. Who knew, it might even make her useful.

So she sat cross-legged on her bed, concentrating on not just floating a pencil, but on making it glow with an eerie green light at the same time.

Hardcore witch right here, yo.

Alex had handwavily spent the day being followed around by a somewhat energetic woman. After a couple questions about magic and spells, she realized her wand had come to life.

Alex wandered over to Tara's alcove to see what else Fandom might have made come to life. "Hey," she offered in greeting as her wand stared at the floating pencil, in what could be called child-like wonder. Alex was resisting the urge to facepalm, oh yes.

"Hi," Alex replied, offering Tara an apologetic smile. "Apparently, my wand here seems to have forgotten her manners." Sure, Alex might not be the most well-mannered girl in the world, but even she knew it was impolite to stare. "Sorry about that."

And then she realized she might sound a bit crazy, but then again, this was Fandom.

"Um, yeah, I did," Alex nodded, offering her a somewhat sheepish smile. "I'm guessing someone's told you about Fandom weirdness, right?" At least, she hoped so, otherwise she was going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Her wand was eying the spell book and hearing her name -- or lack thereof -- called, smiled and gave Tara a little wave. "That's me!" Clearly, she was enjoying her animated state.

Alex nodded, realizing she only knew a few people that fit that category. "I ended up meeting another wizard, when I first got here," she admitted. "Where I'm from, most people have no idea magic exists." Her best friend used to be one of them. "It's kind of cool not having to hide it here," Alex smiled.

Not that she went around broadcasting her being a wizard in training, but if someone found out, it really wasn't that big of a deal.

Wand may have pouted slightly when Tara covered the spell book. "I don't think Alex ever floated a pencil like that," Wand commented, trying to remember lessons past.

"I remember hearing about them before," Alex nodded, "but I keep forgetting to check it out. I should do that soon," she decided. "My dad was a former wizard and my brothers are learning with me," Alex explained. "In our family, only one of us will get to keep our powers in the end." It might not be fair, but that's the way it worked.

Wand nodded, a thoughtful look passing over her face. "Oh, I see. I do not believe we've reached that point yet," Wand admitted, trying to remember all the spells Alex had performed before.
