Room 415, Saturday Morning
The pretty girl lying in bed next to Tara was still asleep, so that meant Tara had to be extra-super careful not to make too much noise as she crawled out of bed. It was all right; she liked being quiet.
Her hair was all tangled, so she started looking for a hairbrush to get it nice and smooth until she spotted --
"BUNNY!"
That squeal, and the subsequent scramble to pick up the rabbit, shattered all plans of being quiet.

She sat up and rubbed her eyes, then kicked the covers off and leaped out of bed.
"Bailey!" she crowed happily, bounding over to her rabbit and Tara. "Hi hi hi--" Tara got an extra big grin. "Hi!"

Then she remembered she was supposed to ask permission. "Is that okay?"

Which was just how she'd decided it would go, because... because.

She accepted the compliment with a casual tilt of her head and a quick smile as Bailey... didn't hop, exactly, but did come over to twitch her nose at Tara's fingers. "Well, duh, that's why it's her name. She's a nice bunny."
Running her fingers through her hair, she laughed. "I like watching you play with the bunny."

That would go over with her dad so well, no doubt.

Perhaps Kennedy's dad would be amused she was at last planning for her future?

"We could call him!" Kennedy suggested. No, Kennedy. Bad idea.
...which she at least realized, because her face fell. "But he's probably busy now, and he'll get mad if I call," she concluded, sticking her lower lip out. "So we'll have to write a letter, but it means we'll have to wait."
Waiting was clearly some adult's mean invention to make kids suffer.

The rabbit ... froze, as rabbits being squeezed by small children are wont to do.

Bailey didn't exactly look reassured by this, it had to be said.
"...I give good hugs too," Kennedy added, for no particular reason. It just seemed like the thing to say.

It was a "trying to wriggle free" kind of hugging back, but Tara counted it.

"That means he likes you," Kennedy decided. "He's a smart bunny."

She finally noticed Bailey was trying to get out and gently placed him back on the floor. "Bye, Bailey."

"Yay!" Kennedy's fistpump had no shortage of energy whatsoever. "I wanna get food first, though, 'cause I'm starving. Are you hungry? We should get someone to feed us!"

She darted over to the closet and started digging through it to find things to wear, and yes, even the child-sized wardrobe looked incredibly pricey.
"'cause we gotta be all fed and have lots of energy to play with Bailey and the kitty later."
